Defenders of Wildlife’s Biodiversity Law Center develops and implements strategic litigation, engages in legal advocacy, and advises Defenders’ policy, advocacy and lobbying teams on legislative matters to amplify Defenders’ efforts to conserve biodiversity in protection of imperiled species and their habitats, including Mexican gray wolves, lynx, North Atlantic right whales and many others.
Guided by Defenders’ strategic plan, the Biodiversity Law Center is a critical part of our multipronged approach to maintain, strengthen and expand our nation’s legacy of wildlife conservation and protection of imperiled species and ecosystems. We fiercely defend wildlife and land conservation laws and policies and work to restore their protections whenever they are undermined or lost. The Biodiversity Law Center leverages conservation law and courtroom savvy to hold agencies and other stakeholders accountable for complying with the Endangered Species Act and other legal mandates for conserving wildlife and public lands.
