Educating Consumers

Our outreach teams work to teach consumers in the U.S. about the impact they may be having on imperiled species. Wildlife products can hide in plain sight – even in major department stores. It's important that shoppers know what they are purchasing and how it may be impacting wildlife around the world. We equip shoppers with basic knowledge about wildlife trade and trafficking, and encourage them to ask the right questions before making a purchase.

Abroad, we work with local communities to raise awareness of conservation issues through educational outreach in all forms, from identification guides and training workshops, to posters and comic books. The more communities understand about the value of their ecosystem, the more they are inspired to play an active role in helping to protect it from exploitation.
