As the Diversity and Inclusion fellow, Jackie hopes to increase conservation outreach to everyone. Conservation outreach is her passion as well as engaging future conservationists to connect with wildlife as close as their backyard, to teaching them to care and understand the implications for wildlife as far as the other side of the world.

Before joining Defenders, Jackie worked as a zookeeper at Disney’s Animal Kingdom working with a variety of birds, giraffe, a variety of African hoofedstock and her favorites, the African wild dogs and hyena. She received an M.S. in Conservation Medicine from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts with a focus on using GIS to map red tide in the state of Florida over ten years, and anticoagulant rodenticides in fishers in Vermont. She received her B.S. in Biomedical Science from the University of New Hampshire, working predominantly with small animals and dairy cattle nutrition.
