Jared SaylorJared Saylor joined Defenders of Wildlife in January 2017, bringing 15 years of communications experience in the environmental community. He previously served as campaign director at Earthjustice, overseeing national communications and advocacy campaigns to limit oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean, clean up toxic air pollution from cement kilns and power plants and push the EPA to adopt the first-ever federal regulations for the storage and disposal of toxic coal ash. Prior to that, Jared was a reporter in Sacramento covering environmental policy in California for the newsletter Inside Cal/EPA. In 2002 he was recognized by the Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. for his work on “Gunrunners,” a story about international gun smuggling. He holds a B.A. in English from Cal-State East Bay and a Masters in Journalism from U.C. Berkeley.
