Sophia is the Senior California Representative for Defenders and engages on a variety of renewable energy development issues within the California desert and the San Joaquin Valley. Sophia has several years of experience in energy policy and environmental advocacy. Prior to joining Defenders in 2022, she worked on energy regulatory and supply issues at the Illinois Commerce Commission. She also has experience working on clean air and clean energy issues at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and Environmental Defense Fund. Sophia holds an M.A. in American Government from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Government and Politics and a minor in Business Law from St. John’s University. In her spare time she loves to travel, bake, and spend time with her pets.
