Polar bears, caribou, migratory birds – countless animals make their homes and raise their young in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The Arctic Refuge is the crown jewel of our refuge system, with tremendous ecological value. But the Trump administration is now trying to auction off this incredible wilderness piece by piece for oil and gas development.

If their plan goes forward, the Arctic Refuge could be carved up and marred by new oil and gas developments. A thriving wild landscape could be destroyed for private oil profits.

Defenders is hosting a virtual town hall in defense of the Arctic and its wildlife. This town hall will provide Defender’s members with a space to testify to protect the Arctic Refuge from expanded oil and gas drilling. Prior to public testimony, Kristen Moreland, executive director of the Gwich'in Steering Committee, Rep. Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) and Daniel Franz, staff attorney at Defenders of Wildlife, will speak.

Join us and help ensure that the voice of the public is heard during this process! You’ll have the chance to share your verbal testimony or a written comment that can be submitted. These testimonies will go directly to oil and gas companies that could be considering leasing Arctic habitat for fossil fuel development. Let your voice be heard!

Even as politicians in Congress and this administration have tried to exploit the Arctic Refuge at the cost of its wildlife, we’ve been working hard to hold the line and to get the word out that these unpopular leases could cause catastrophic damage to Arctic habitat and our environment.

You can help by speaking up for animals who have no voice of their own.

Thank you for taking action with us to help make a real impact for animals in the Arctic and beyond.
