At its annual benefit, “Where the Future Flows,” the Restore the Delta organization honored Defenders of Wildlife Water Policy Advisor Ashley Overhouse with the Next Generation Leadership Award on June 22.

“Stepping into the daunting world of California water is both exhilarating and challenging,” Overhouse said. “I’m honored by this recognition and feel like I stand on the shoulders of so many incredible Delta leaders. There is a lot of work still to be done, and I’m grateful to be a part of this strong, dedicated environmental community.”   

For the past year, Overhouse has been Defenders’ strongarm in water policy advocating for wildlife and healthy waterways in California. Defenders is proud to work with grassroots campaigns like Restore the Delta in the ongoing effort to achieve a healthy, flourishing Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta.

Bipartisan Bill Promotes Nonlethal Solutions to Decrease Human-Wildlife Conflicts

Defenders of Wildlife commends the leadership of Senators Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Steven Daines (R-MT) for introducing S.5234, the Human-Wildlife Conflict Reduction Act, which would promote the use of nonlethal solutions to reduce human-wildlife conflicts, including those between predators and livestock and harm caused by wildlife to human infrastructure.
