Defenders of Wildlife and the Foxwynd Foundation today announce a partnership in wildlife conservation through a generous donation provided by the Foxwynd Foundation’s Donor Advised Fund in the amount of $50,000 to Defenders of Wildlife.
“We are deeply honored to receive this support from the Foxwynd Foundation,” said Matt Braughler, Vice President, Philanthropy at Defenders of Wildlife. “Our teams are driven to solve the climate and biodiversity crises, pursuing tangible results through measurable impact, such as increased coexistence training workshops, range rider and field technician funding and ongoing data collection and analysis. Support from the Foxwynd Foundation will directly contribute to this work.”
This general support grant will be used to support Defenders’ programs to protect threatened and endangered species and to promote peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife. The grant will also be leveraged to support a matching gift campaign within the next year.
For over 75 years, Defenders of Wildlife has been the nation’s leading voice in protecting all native animals and plants in their natural communities. Its work to recover the endangered Mexican gray wolf, for example, began in the 1980s and continues to support scientists and policymakers to find the best path forward, including supporting adult release and cross-fostering of pups. Defenders also works directly with ranchers and tribal members to implement proven techniques to keep wolves and livestock safe.
“At Foxwynd Foundation, we are proud to support Defenders of Wildlife in its mission to protect and restore endangered wildlife, including the Mexican gray wolf,” said Gloria Galvez, Grant and Partnership Manager at the Foxwynd Foundation. “Defenders’ collaborative, science-based work in Arizona and New Mexico is truly inspiring, as it has helped the wolf population grow for the eighth consecutive year, reaching over 250 individuals in 2024. We are honored to contribute to Defenders’ efforts to promote coexistence and restore balance to the ecosystem.”
