 According to a report by the Associated Press, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has begun a review of the status of the gray wolf. U.S. FWS is considering dropping threatened and endangered gray wolves across the lower 48 states from the Endangered Species Act.

Jamie Rappaport Clark, former President and CEO, issued this statement: 

“We strongly condemn the actions by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to strip legal protections for gray wolves nationwide. U.S. FWS has tried this path and failed before. Gray wolves are making a slow recovery – but full recovery in the U.S. is far from complete. Wolves are still extirpated in the majority of their historic range and delisting them nationwide is legally and scientifically inappropriate."
