The Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) regulates the international trade of species threatened by over-collection. Parties of the Convention were requested to make recommendations to the Conference of the Parties on the implications of climate change in CITES.

This report states how important it is for CITES to consider climate change in the course of its work, and to provide guideance to Parties as to how climate change relates to decision-making. CITES decision-making frameworks may currently accomodate consideration of climate change impacts, but some factors have not been taken into account. In this report, we address the ways that climate change should be considered as Parties begin to face the new challenges brought on by a changing climate.
