SENATE VOTE DESCRIPTIONS: 119TH CONGRESS, 1ST SESSION

  • CONFIRMING A LEADING OIL ADVOCATE AS INTERIOR SECRETARY

    The Senate approved Doug Burgum as Secretary of the Interior, putting a long-time ally of the fossil fuel industry in charge of overseeing the nation’s public lands and natural resources (January 30, 2025, Roll Call No. 26).  

  • REINSTATING FIRED FEDERAL LAND MANAGERS 

    The Senate rejected an amendment that would have offered support to reinstate federal land managers working for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and National Park Service who were fired, leaving these important agencies understaffed (February 20, 2025, Roll Call No. 68). 

  • ANTI-REGULATORY POLITICIZING OF AGENCY DECISIONS 

    The Senate passed an amendment that offered support for an anti-regulatory effort to require all significant agency actions that protect the environment to be affirmatively approved by both houses of Congress, subjecting scientific agency decisions to politicization. (February 21, 2025, Roll Call No. 85). 

  • PREVENTING PUBLIC LANDS SELL-OFFS 

    The Senate rejected an amendment that would have prohibited selling-off public lands for budgetary purposes (April 5, 2025, Roll Call No. 181).  

  • SACRIFICING WILDLIFE AND HABITAT TO FUND BILLIONAIRE TAX BREAKS 

    The Senate passed a budget reconciliation bill that would dramatically increase oil and gas drilling on our public lands and off our nation’s coasts, increase logging on our public lands, and otherwise inflict severe damage on wildlife and habitat (July 1, 2025, Roll Call No. 372). 

  • OVERTURNING LAND MANAGEMENT FOR EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES 

    The Senate passed a resolution to overturn the Bureau of Land Management’s Central Yukon resource management plan in Alaska to subject these lands to mining and drilling for oil and gas by extractive industries (October 9, 2025, Roll Call No. 560). 

  • REJECTING SCIENCE-BASED PROTECTION FOR SPOTTED OWLS 

    The Senate rejected a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn a science-based plan under the Endangered Species Act which outlines necessary conservation actions to stop the imminent extinction of the northern spotted owl (October 29, 2025, Roll Call No. 597). 

  • ROLLING BACK PROTECTIONS IN THE NATIONAL PETROLEUM RESERVE – ALASKA FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY  

    The Senate approved a Congressional Review Act resolution that would overturn protections for the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska, revoking a comprehensive approach to managing unique ecological values in favor of less restricted oil and gas development (October 3, 2025, Roll Call No. 599).  

  • UNDERMINING CONSERVATION TO ADVANCE OIL AND GAS DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC REFUGE 

    The Senate approved a Congressional Review Act resolution that would overturn protections for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge’s Coastal Plain, revoking protections for an iconic and pristine ecosystem and creating regulatory uncertainty (December 4, 2025, Roll Call No. 632).  

HOUSE VOTE DESCRIPTIONS: 119TH CONGRESS, 1ST SESSION

  • ALLOWING LOGGING PROJECTS TO AVOID ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS 

    The House passed a bill that would open federal land to logging projects by avoiding environmental reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act, ignoring science relevant to species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and blocking access to judicial review (January 23, 2025, Roll Call No. 25).  

  • REVOKING PROTECTIONS FOR THE IMPERILED LONGFIN SMELT

    The House approved a Congressional Review Act resolution that would have overturned ESA protections for the endangered longfin smelt, undermining the scientific integrity of the ESA (May 1, 2025, Roll Call No. 113). 

  • SACRIFICING WILDLIFE AND HABITAT TO FUND BILLIONAIRE TAX BREAKS 

    The House passed a budget reconciliation bill that would dramatically increase oil and gas drilling on our public lands and off our nation’s coasts, increase logging on our public lands, and otherwise inflict severe damage on wildlife and habitat (July 3, 2025, Roll Call No. 190). 

  • OVERTURNING LAND MANAGEMENT FOR EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES 

    The House passed a resolution to overturn the Bureau of Land Management’s Central Yukon resource management plan in Alaska in order to subject these lands to mining and drilling for oil and gas by extractive industries (September 3, 2025, Roll Call No. 225). 

  • EXEMPTING THE MILITARY FROM COMPLYING WITH THE ESA 

    The House rejected an amendment that would have exempted the U.S. military from complying with the ESA (September 10, 2025, Roll Call No. 259). 

  • UNDERMINING CONSERVATION TO ADVANCE OIL AND GAS DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC REFUGE 

    The House approved a Congressional Review Act resolution that would overturn protections for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge’s Coastal Plain, revoking protections for an iconic and pristine ecosystem and creating regulatory uncertainty (November 18, 2025, Roll Call No. 295).  

  • ROLLING BACK PROTECTIONS IN THE NATIONAL PETROLEUM RESERVE – ALASKA FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY  

    The House approved a Congressional Review Act resolution that would overturn protections for the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska, revoking a comprehensive approach to managing unique ecological values in favor of less restricted oil and gas development (November 18, 2025, Roll Call No. 296).  

  • WEAKENING ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF FEDERAL PROJECTS 

    The House passed a bill that would weaken and circumvent environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act by cutting science, community input, and judicial review out of the process for a wide range of projects. (December 18, 2025, Roll Call No. 356). 

  • REVOKING PROTECTIONS FOR THE GRAY WOLF 

    The House passed a bill to delist the gray wolf under the ESA, which would revoke federal protections for the species and undermine the scientific integrity of the ESA (December 18, 2025, Roll Call No. 360).
