Earlier in the week, President Obama went on a second tour of the Gulf to see the continuing effects of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. The Associated Press reports that the President has started talking tough and taking charge.

On Tuesday night, President Obama’s address to the nation, he vowed to make BP pay for the Gulf oil disaster and promisesd the American people that the federal government “will fight this spill with everything [we’ve] got for as long it takes.” NBC reports.

Firm in his resolve that BP will be held responsible for all damage caused by the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, President Obama initiated the creation of an escrow account by BP for the damages incurred by the Gulf oil disaster (Reuters).

Surprisingly, President Obama’s “Spill Recovery Chief,”  Ray Mabus, has no intentions to resign from current post as Navy Secretary. On handling both positions at once, Bob Irvin, vice president for Conservation Programs at Defenders told AP, “The idea that he is only going to work on this part-time is disturbing. If this is the equivalent of war, as the president has been saying, it needs a full-time general.”
