It’s that time of year again… Watch Out for Wildlife Awareness Week! From September 18-24, Defenders’ Habitat and Highways campaign will be working to raise awareness about the dangers roads pose to wildlife and what drivers can do to make them safer.

With the number of deadly wildlife-vehicle collisions on the rise, it’s more important than ever to make sure when you’re on the road, you’re taking precautions to keep yourself and the wildlife around you safe.  This can be as simple as slowing down, being aware of your surrounding or keeping up with routine auto maintenance. See our “Top 10 Tips for Drivers“ for more ways to reduce your risk of getting in an accident with wildlife.

But more importantly, stay tuned! This year we’ll feature a blog series where you can learn more about the high costs of wildlife-vehicle collisions, the steps being taken to make safe passage for wildlife and what YOU can do to make our roads safer for people and animals.
