Hey Twilight Fans! It’s that time again. The release of the next blockbuster movie in the saga, Breaking Dawn Part 1, is set for midnight tonight. (As if you needed a reminder.)

If you’re not lined up already to see it (or even if you are), take a second to check out our Twilight PSA. Last year, Twilight actor Alex Meraz, who plays the werewolf “Paul,” spoke out in support of Defenders’ wolf conservation efforts.

Alex’s message has grown only more dire since federal protections for wolves were stripped via congressional budget rider earlier this year. As a result, wolves are now being hunted and trapped in Idaho and Montana. Meanwhile, anti-wolf sentiment remains strong in Oregon and Washington where wolf populations are still struggling to gain a toehold on recovery.

But Defenders is not giving up. We’re working hard to form new partnerships across the West with hunters, ranchers, Native American tribes and state wildlife agencies to find new ways for people and wolves to coexist. Wolves play an essential role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and we’re determined to make sure they will continue to do so for many years to come.

Who knows, with enough support from wolf advocates, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see REAL wolves in La Push someday.
