WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 30, 2013) — President Obama today signaled his intent to nominate Rhea Suh as assistant secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks within the Department of the Interior. Below is a statement from Jamie Rappaport Clark, President of Defenders of Wildlife.

“Rhea Suh would make an excellent Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks at the Department of the Interior and I am very excited that President Obama is slated to tap her for that position. Ms. Suh is a committed steward of our natural resources and has the experience to make a real difference if confirmed. She has a strong record of bridging divides and engaging differing parties in pursuit of sound conservation policy. Oversight of our national parks and wildlife refuges  is one of our government’s most important responsibilities and I believe that Ms. Suh has the experience and knowledge to be highly effective in this position. ”
