Washington (February 17, 2017) – The U.S. Senate voted today to confirm Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency. The following statement is from Jamie Rappaport Clark, Former president and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife:

“Scott Pruitt is anti-environment, anti-science and anti-regulation. His ascension to lead the Environmental Protection Agency flies clearly in the face of our government’s responsibility to protect our air, water and wildlife for all of us. Allowing Pruitt to lead such an important agency charged with protecting the public’s health is both reckless and grossly irresponsible. It is a strange time indeed when someone with such disdain for the mission of the EPA now heads this critically important agency. We are both outraged by and deeply disappointed in those senators who ignored the truth and voted for his confirmation.”
