Conservation community loses avid defender of America’s natural resources

WASHINGTON (January 13, 2014) – California Representative George Miller, a longtime champion of America’s environment and natural resources, announced that he will retire at the end of his current term. During his 40-year career on Capitol Hill, Rep. Miller, former chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, became known as one of the country’s most crucial advocates of conservation.

The California state legislature today passed with bipartisan support a landmark bill to re-establish the statewide Wildlife Coexistence Program within the Department of Fish and Wildlife, which will better manage and reduce human-wildlife conflict through non-lethal and proactive strategies.
