Mike brings a commitment to recovering all of our native wildlife populations back to Defenders, along with a belief that bringing the wide world of wildlife supporters closer together will lead to better results for wildlife and people.

Mike is a hunter, angler, and lawyer with over 30 years of experience in wildlife and natural resources conservation, including as a staff attorney and regional director for Defenders, and a program director for National Wildlife Federation, Izaak Walton League of America, and National Audubon Society. 

Mike’s understanding of wildlife and the world is informed by his dogs’ great enthusiasm for all living creatures, as well as those creatures themselves. It is further shaped by sharp-minded colleagues at Defenders and other wildlife organizations, federal and state agencies, tribes, and congressional offices, as well as transcendentally supportive family and friends. Mike is additionally shaped by the great minds of the Georgetown University Law Center and Cornell University's Fernow School of Natural Resources.
