
Nathan analyzes and advocates for policies that help guide the responsible development of renewable energy projects, seeking to promote the carbon-free energy sources that are essential to combating climate change while minimizing impacts to wildlife and other natural resources. Prior to joining Defenders, Nathan worked in the environmental consulting industry in southern California, where he contributed to the biological analysis of solar and electrical transmission projects in the Mojave Desert. He also has expertise in avian ecology and conservation, having spent numerous seasons conducting bird-focused research at field sites throughout North America. Nathan earned a B.S in Zoology from Connecticut College and an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida.
