Wolverine Preservation Project Begins:
The wolverine monitoring project is the first time documentation has happened for this wildlife species as part of a broader conservation effort to have them listed on the Endangered Species list. The Defenders’ Montana project has over 140 volunteers helping with this multi-group project across all 3 northern Rockies states.

A Win for Wildlife:
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) announced late Wednesday evening that he would pull the legislation to sell millions of acres of federally owned land after conservationists and sportsman’s groups retaliated and stood up for wildlife and wild places.

Rachel Carson Documentary:
Rachel Carson is an intimate portrait of the woman whose groundbreaking books revolutionized our relationship to the natural world. The film, which aired 01/24/2017, shares the public and private life of the woman whose writings revolutionized how we understand our relationship with the natural world. Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Mary-Louise Parker lends her talents as the voice of Rachel Carson.

Help with Panther Research by Reporting Sightings to the FWC:
With cooler temperatures throughout the Sunshine State, more people are likely to head to the woods to enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is asking the public to assist with Florida panther research and management by reporting sightings of the large feline to the agency’s panther sightings webpage.
