The Gunnison County Stockgrowers’ Association, Inc. and Colorado Cattlemen’s Association suit to block the reintroduction of gray wolves to the state was dismissed today at their request.

“This lawsuit was a transparent attempt to prevent paws from hitting the ground this winter,” said Michael Saul, Rockies and Plains Program Director at Defenders of Wildlife. “The plaintiffs’ position had no merit and the judge ruled accordingly. We are thrilled this historic reintroduction is moving forward and were beyond inspired to see the first five of these magnificent wolves run into the wilds of Colorado.”

Defenders of Wildlife’s legal team defended Colorado’s historic effort to reintroduce gray wolves and stands ready fight any attempts to block wolf reintroduction in the state.
