American Express and TakePart partnership benefits multiple charities each year

WASHINGTON (11/29/2010) -

Defenders of Wildlife is proud to have been selected as a candidate charity in Members Project, a partnership between American Express and TakePart.

Supporters of Defenders of Wildlife can vote online to help the organization become one of five charities in the current round of voting to share a total of $1,000,000 in funding from American Express. The funding would help Defenders of Wildlife further its mission to safeguard native wildlife and habitat conservation in North America. To vote, supporters can visit the Members Project Defenders page.

“We’re excited to be a part of Members Project, which provides financial support to nonprofit groups like Defenders of Wildlife,” said Diane Clifford, Defenders’ senior vice president for marketing and constituent development. “We hope that our dedicated supporters will help Defenders of Wildlife become one of the lucky charities that will benefit from the generous contributions of American Express and TakePart.”

Background:

Members Project is a partnership between American Express and TakePart, a social action network. Members Project encourages everyone, including non-American Express® Cardmembers, to help support worthy causes and charitable organizations.

Those who’ve joined Members Project can vote for one charity every week from a list of up to 50 charities. Every three months, the votes are counted and five charities in that round of voting will share a total of $1,000,000 in funding from American Express. Participants can also get involved by volunteering or donating. Members Project provides the platform to help make taking action easier with organizations like Defenders of Wildlife
