Defenders of Wildlife Announces new Senior Texas Representative, Paul Sanchez-Navarro

In an effort to expand wildlife and wild lands conservation in Texas, Defenders of Wildlife is pleased to announce that Paul Sanchez-Navarro has joined the organization as the new senior Texas representative, based in Austin.

Statement by Bryan Bird, Southwest program director:

“Protecting wildlife and their habitat in Texas is an important job and we are pleased to have a representative who will further expand Defenders of Wildlife’s work in the region. Paul brings decades of policy experience at the local, national and international levels, which will be vital in our conservation efforts in the state and beyond.

“Defenders of Wildlife has a long history of endangered species conservation in the state and we are looking forward to continuing our work to protect species like the dunes sagebrush lizard and the Golden-cheeked warbler, and expand our involvement in ocelot recovery and other species impacted by border wall construction.”

Statement by Paul Sanchez-Navarro:

“I am very excited to join the Defenders of Wildlife team and have the opportunity to influence state and local environmental policy here in Texas. Having lived in the U.S. and Mexico and worked on environmental conservation in both countries, I know how important it is to maintain relationships on either side of the border to achieve positive change.

“I am looking forward to working with the community in Austin and partnering with other conservation groups to further our shared interests in biodiversity conservation. Defenders of Wildlife is committed to engage more advocates as allies on key issues ranging from the negative impacts of liquid natural gas facilities to border issues that could harm habitat for endangered ocelot.”
